A New Craze - Planking

You may have seen pictures of people in the internet lying face down in unusual or incongruous places. There are those that just lie down in the middle of the streets, garbage cans, McDonald's logo, in a car hood and oh yes you can even see people lying down in a fire. whut dah!! People call it "planking". At first I thought it was just a campaign of youngsters trying to say something to the governments or alike or maybe a prank joke with hidden cameras around waiting to do something ridiculous to someone who will get closer to them.

Then I found out that these people are just having fun. Lying face down on their stomach with their feet and hands as if they are frozen (haha). They usually do it in random and often public places and have their colleagues shoot the camera on them. These "plankers" try to make each of their photos as unique as possible.

Yes like you I, too wondered what these people are gaining in doing such an activity. So to figure that out I tried planking my self. I tried it on the floor ‘coz it looks very easy to do. I feel stupid while doing it alone so I called my wife to check me out, and her face is like "ahuh.. ok?..". She was not impressed and so was I. I thought maybe because that is too basic. What I did next is I grab two chairs and put my forehead on one of the one and my toes on the other. I tried it so hard to plank for as long as I can but I only made it for two seconds. I know, I know I am too weak.. sigh!

And darn yeah! I had a stiffed neck for half an hour. I won't do it again,I swear!

Having a stiffed neck after planking, still I am wondering what is it with this stunt that makes many people around the world do it. As I deepened my research I came across this site called GeekoSystem.com and saw some planking images. Now I love photography though I don't own a camera, and I guess my photographer eyes were opened as I look at the images. As I gaze on the images I started smiling and I saw an art,,, yes an art behind planking.

I don't think you will notice it with looking at the images one by one. Try collecting them and make collage and see if you'll see what I see,, an art.

I was shocked to have heard that there had already been a report death because of planking. Click the link to read the entire report about a 20 year old young Australian man who died planking. Now you don't wanna plunge to death do you?

The woman on the video at right tried to do the crazy stunt and end up hurting herself. I bet you don't want this to happen to you.

1. If it is just pictures you want, then do it in the pavement, don't plank in places higher than your knees.

2. If you are a Photoshop expert, plank with a green background and edit it. Make it look like you are in the Mt. Everest or in a pile of whatever you like. Or learn how to be a Photoshop expert in a short span of time.

Aight I gotta get out of this puter and do some stretching. I will be planking a little later... on my bed.
